Semi-Homemade

OK, the title sounds like those cheesy Sandra Lee episodes on Food Network, but I'm calling this a Semi-homemade blog post since most of the food was homemade. First off, I made Chicken and Mushrooms in Sherry Cream Sauce. It's be simplified from the original recipe that called for shallots, butter, and a lot of simmering and I added the chicken to the recipe. We first had a version of this dish at Verjus, which was pan-seared scallops with assorted mushrooms in sherry cream sauce over pasta noodles. Everything about that dish was awesome, so I've searched for sherry cream sauce recipes all over. The ones we make aren't as creamy as the one from Verjus, but good nonetheless. So back to my version. Chicken thighs cut into strips, shiitake mushrooms, white mushrooms, and king oyster mushrooms.

Here's a picture of it while it was cooking...

And here's the finished product! You can't really see the creamy sauce, but it's there!

We didn't eat it with pasta, since my parents had other dishes for us to eat with rice. We also had 豬骨海帶湯/Pork bone & seaweed soup. It turned out unbelievably white! And it tasted really good! I didn't eat much of the seaweed, but it's very tender compared to the Chinese ones...these were Korean dried seaweed.

The one non-homemade dish is this roast duck that my mom picked up from Chinatown. Tasty!
